Salbutes

Today was another great day in Belmopan! We are now starting to fall into a daily routine. This morning we woke up early and got ready for school, had breakfast at our hotel, and then were picked up for school. We arrived at school a little early so we will be going in later tomorrow. Upon arrival, we each headed to our classrooms to spend the entire day with our classes. Before school, the students play around the campus and when the bell rings, they line up in two straight lines (one for boys and one for girls).

When the bell rang for lunch, we headed to our usual lunch area at the school where we met the lady who would be making our lunch everyday. She arrived with a couple bags and assembled our meals at the table. For lunch we all had salbutes (sal-boo-tays) and boy were they good! They were small fried corn tortillas topped with chicken (or no meat) and cabbage, and a tomato-cilantro salsa. The lunch was very fresh and delicious!

Tonight we are just going to relax and have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner, and Chrissy is preparing a lesson for tomorrow about Belize weather (which has been quite rainy). Looking forward to what tomorrow will bring!
