On Friday we had an early start to the holiday weekend ahead of us. The students were dismissed an hour early for lunch and we all gathered in the main courtyard for Garifuna drumming and dancing. They played three songs and then called on teachers and UNF students to come up and dance. Even some of the students got up to dance!

For lunch we were offered one of the Garifuna dishes to try. It was fish and okra cooked in coconut milk with mashed up plantains to dip in it. It definitely took an acquired taste, but we tried it! Once we reached the bottom of the cup there was an actual fish head...yum.

In the afternoon, Chrissy's class spent their P.E. playing red rover. Then we decided to walk home because the van couldn't pick us up. It was really fun and not a bad walk at all! We are starting to feel like the locals, even if we don't look like them.
